When I attended my appointment I was greeted by smart and polite staff who were both professional and reassuring. I was seen promptly and given the time I needed to discuss why I was there. Dr Hakim listened to everything that was concerning me and advised me of what to do from there. He gave both private routes and wrote to my NHS doctor advising them of how to follow up. Visiting Dr Hakim has changed my life, for generations my family has suffered numerous issues and now we finally have an answer. Personally I believe it was justified in visiting Dr Hakim privately because of the excellent way both he and his team listened and helped as much as they could. I do however believe the only improvement for me could have been a greater awareness of Ehlers Danlos in the National Health Service. Numerous GPS and an NHS Rheumatologists not only failed to identify that I had this condition over the last 31 years but confessed they did not know enough about it to even know what to do next. It took years of personal research and being treated like I am crazy or imagining problems to get to this point and I feel that without Dr Hakim I would still be living in limbo with no real answers as to why I have the problems I do. I can not express how much I would like to thank Dr Hakim and I have already passed his details across 3 support groups for those with or who believe they have EDS. Thanks again for everything.

Dr Alan Hakim is a wonderful consultant. He always welcomes you with a smile and puts the patient at ease during the consultation with his friendly nature. Medically, he is exemplary. Dr Hakim listens to the patient and is a great problem solver. He does his very best to help you and no problem seems too small or big. I completely trust him thanks to his wealth of experience. I particularly rate his care of EDS. This is a condition which is not fully understood by a great deal of the medical world and therefore it is a real comfort to find a consultant who "just gets it". I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Alan Hakim. He is a first class health care professional who has has helped me immensely and who continues to show his support going forward.

In my experience, Dr. Hakim is a fantastic consultant. I have found him both extremely competent and knowledgeable, and at the same time highly approachable and genuinely caring. In particular - - He has very carefully diagnosed my condition - deploying the most advanced procedures available, and he has taking decisive and immediate action to prevent the disease from progressing. - He has provided clear and detailed explanations of every step along the way. In addition, he has always taken the time to listen actively to my issues and questions, often providing feedback at shortest notice when symptoms appeared to worsen. - He has provided swift and targeted referrals in several occasions when contributions from other specialisations became relevant. - Being very aware of possible risks, he has individualised and optimised my therapy, balancing impact and side effects, whilst closely monitoring progress. Having previously consulted several other specialists, I have found Dr. Hakim’s approach to be absolutely unique - all other practitioners had advocated a standard treatment based on statistical studies related to the pathology, rather than an in-depth individual assessment. I am absolutely certain that without Dr. Hakim's guidance and treatment my situation today would be significantly worse. I am very grateful for his support!

Dr Hakim is one of the nicest doctors I have ever seen. He is extremely thorough and takes into account all of your symptoms. He is very empathic and makes you feel genuinely cared for. His communication skills are excellent, his clinic letters are comprehensive and prompt. His expertise in EDS is worth it's weight in gold. I couldn't recommend him highly enough.
